Lavender Lavender doesn't receive the respect it should as a medicinal herb because, for centuries, it has been loved for its delicate fragrance. It is known to relieve insomnia, and calm nervousness and anxiety. While its scent can soothe and relax the mind, drinking lavender tea is, perhaps, more effective. Steep a handful of dried flowers for seven to ten minutes in a pot of boiling water, then strain out the herb to drink.
Basil Basil is extremely popular in the kitchen being the primary ingredient in pesto and other wonderful dishes. Tea made from basil leaves have many healthy properties, including, reducing inflammation for arthritis sufferers, relieving nervous system fatigue, overcoming insomnia, and reducing the discomfort from menstrual cramps. Only use fresh basil leaves when making tea, and use about a dozen steeped in very hot water for five to seven minutes before straining the leaves and enjoying.
Catnip Visit my website to watch a video showing the very interesting behavior of cats around catnip. Even with this strange reaction by felines, catnip is very healthy for people.
Below are some of the positive characteristics of catnip:
- Reduces fever,
- Is a decongestant,
- Detoxifies the body,
- Relieves severe migraine symptoms,
- Is an anti-inflammatory (reducing arthritis pain),
- Serves as a digestive aid relieving diarrhea in children,
- Chewing catnip leaves can reduce toothache pain and are given to babies while teething.
Make catnip tea by steeping leaves in very hot water and is considered very safe for adults and children
